Fake ReviewsAre Now Illegal. Here is why they can never appear on Tratok.

Glowing reviews from guests who never stayed. Rivals buried under complaints from people who never visited. Lawmakers have finally caught up, and the rules have changed.

The new rules

United States
Since October 2024, the Federal Trade Commission’s rule bans buying or selling fake reviews, with fines for every violation.
United Kingdom
Since April 2025, fake reviews and hiding negative ones are banned under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act.

Why it is so hard to stop

On most sites, anyone with an account can review anywhere. Fake orders push a listing up the page, and fake complaints push a rival down. Platforms spend fortunes trying to detect fakes after they are written.

Tratok’s answer: make faking impossible

On Tratok, a review can only come from a completed booking, and every booking settles on our ledger. There is nothing to fake: no review without a real stay, a real dinner or a real experience.

Who can review
✕Most sites: anyone, whether they went or not.
✓Tratok: only a guest with a completed booking.
Stopping fakes
✕Most sites: detection after the damage is done.
✓Tratok: fakes cannot be written in the first place.
Rivals sabotaging
✕Most sites: a flood of fake complaints.
✓Tratok: impossible without real bookings.

You cannot fake a review on Tratok, because you cannot fake a stay.
