Seven Things That Take Ten Minutes And Secure Your Tratok Account

    Practical Guide

Seven Things That Take Ten Minutes And Secure Your Tratok Account

No scare tactics, no cryptography homework, no lecture. Just a short list of concrete things you can do today, most of them one tap, that put real distance between your account and anyone who fancies a go at it.

Most security advice reads like a threat.

Do this or else. Grim statistics. Ominous phrasing. A vague, creeping sense that you are one careless tap away from ruin, delivered by someone who seems faintly annoyed that you asked.

That is not useful, fear makes people freeze, and frozen people do nothing at all, which is precisely the outcome the fear was supposed to prevent. So here is the opposite of that. Seven things. Ten minutes, give or take. Do them once and mostly forget about them.

As transactions are now live across the ecosystem, bookings are opening to more users and new exchanges add additional liquidity, I felt it important to give the community some short and concise steps on how to keep their ecosystem accounts secured.

    1. Set up your passkey. Then set up a second one.

Tratok protects anything that moves money with a passkey rather than a password. Sending TRAT, withdrawing, approving something Tara has prepared for you. All of it goes through a passkey.

If you have not used one before: it is the fingerprint or face check your device already does, bound to that specific device. The private key never leaves your phone. It never touches our servers, so there is nothing on our end for anyone to steal, and nothing for you to accidentally type into a convincing fake.

    A password

Is a secret you know. Which means it is a secret you can be tricked into typing somewhere else.

It sits on a server. Servers get breached.

    A passkey

Is a secret your device holds and never hands over. You cannot type it into a fake site, because you cannot type it at all.

There is nothing on our side to breach.

The second passkey is the bit people skip. Register one on a second device you own, today, while you still have the first one in your hand. Not the afternoon your phone goes into a canal in Amsterdam. That afternoon is a bad afternoon to be doing admin.

    2. Know what your two balances actually do

Your wallet shows one number. Underneath it, there are two.

The deposit balance is TRAT you put in yourself. Spendable, and withdrawable back out to Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain. The rewards balance is what you earn on completed bookings. It is spend-only. It cannot leave the platform, by design.

This is worth thirty seconds of your attention for a security reason, not an accounting one: it tells you exactly how much of your balance is even capable of leaving. Knowing the shape of your own account is underrated.

    3. Scan the QR code. Do not type the address.

Tratok has QR scan-to-send and QR receive built in. Use them.

Hand-typed and copy-pasted addresses are responsible for an unreasonable share of the money quietly lost in this industry every year. Not to hackers. To typos, and to clipboard malware that swaps an address while you are not looking. A scanner does not have fingers, does not get distracted, and does not fat-thumb a character on a train.

    4. Pick the right network. Every single time.

TRAT lives on two chains: Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, bridged one to one. When you withdraw, you choose which one.

Choose the one that matches where the funds are going. If you are sending to an exchange or another wallet, check what that destination expects, and then check it again.

Sending to the right address on the wrong network is the single most common self-inflicted loss in crypto, and it is almost always committed by someone in a hurry who already knew better. Three extra seconds. That is the whole ask.

    5. Learn when Tara will and will not ask you to confirm

Tara does things, not just chats. So she runs a tiered confirmation model, and once you know the tiers, an impostor becomes very easy to spot.

    The confirmation ladder

    Tier one

    Just answers

Searching, checking your trip, telling you what a policy says. Instant. Nothing to confirm, because nothing is happening.

    Tier two

    One tap

Low-risk actions. A wishlist, a price alert, an itinerary. She prepares it, you approve it.

    Tier three

    Passkey required

Anything that moves TRAT. She can prepare it. She cannot approve it. Only you can, with your passkey, on your device.

Which gives you a rule worth memorising.

If TRAT is about to move and nobody asked for your passkey, it is not us. Stop, close it, and open a support ticket from inside the app.

    6. We will never slide into your DMs

Let me put this as plainly as I can, because impersonation is the oldest trick in this industry and it still works depressingly often.

Tratok support lives inside the app, in the support ticket system. That is where we talk to you. We will not message you first on a social platform. We will not ask you to approve a transaction to “verify” or “unlock” or “validate” anything. We will not send you somewhere else to sign something.

Anyone who does any of that is not us, no matter how good the avatar is. Check the domain, close the tab, and raise a ticket. You will not offend anyone by being careful.

    7. Cancel inside the app, never through a link

If plans change, go to your trips and cancel from there. You will get a refund preview showing exactly what comes back, before you confirm anything, and the terms you agreed to at booking are the terms that apply.

A cancellation link that arrives by message, from anyone, for any reason, is not a shortcut. It is a trap with good manners.

The whole thing, on one screen

Screenshot this bit if you like. I would.

    1. Passkey on. Second passkey on a second device.

    2. Know which balance can leave and which cannot.

    3. Scan QR codes. Never type an address.

    4. Match the network. Ethereum or BSC. Check twice.

    5. Money moving with no passkey prompt means it is not us.

    6. Support happens in the app. Never in your DMs.

    7. Cancel from your trips, not from a link.

None of this is dramatic, and that is deliberate.

Security that demands heroism is bad security, because it only works on the days you are alert, well rested and not running for a gate. The point of all of the above is that the safe path is also the easy one. Passkeys are faster than passwords. Scanning is faster than typing. Cancelling in the app is faster than hunting for a link.

You are not being asked to be vigilant forever. You are being asked for ten minutes, once.

Which of the seven did you already have covered, and which one just went on your to-do list? I am genuinely curious which one people skip.

On TRAT. TRAT is a utility token used to redeem travel, stays, activities and dining within the Tratok ecosystem. Nothing in this post is investment advice, and nothing here should be read as a statement, forecast or implication regarding token value.

On support. Tratok will never contact you first via direct message, and will never ask you to approve a transaction in order to verify, unlock or restore anything. All support is handled through the in-app ticket system.
